The International Chocolate Awards announced the winners of the 2do. Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Colombiano. This prestigious competition took place during the 2023 edition of the Salón del Cacao y Chocolate Colombiano in Arauquita, a region known for its high-quality cacao production in the state of Arauca.

What is the significance of this competition?

With the collaboration of the International Chocolate Awards, the contest was organized in partnership with the directors of the Salón del Cacao y Chocolate Colombiano and the National Federation of Cacao Growers (FEDECACAO). This competition aims to recognize and celebrate the exceptional quality of Colombian chocolate and promote the country's rich cacao heritage.

How was the competition organized?

The 2do. Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Colombiano is part of the Cacao Country Support Program initiated by the International Chocolate Awards in 2015. This program includes a series of competitions and educational initiatives to support and elevate the cacao industry in Colombia.
During the competition, expert judges evaluated a wide range of chocolate products from different regions of Colombia. The entries were judged based on criteria such as flavor, texture, aroma, and overall quality. The winners were selected based on the highest standards of excellence in the chocolate industry.

Who were the winners?

After careful deliberation, the judges have selected the top chocolate producers in Colombia. Among the winners with high scores is one of our favorite chocolate makers - Sierra Sagrada Chocolate. It's a small family business from Sierra Nevada which works with indigenous cacao from Arhuaco tribe and produces one of the world's best single-origin dark chocolate bars.
